"I have been chosen to lead a most amazing group--The Padre Pio Prayer Group of Cleveland Ohio. It is a privilege and honor to be chosen to be the leader of this devoted Saint's journey. His works on earth, and his dedication to the Blessed Sacrament and Our Lady of Fatima are the epitome of his sainthood. I have met many wonderful people through this group and every day brings another story to share. 'God Occurrences', as Fr. Ed Janoch, our Spiritual Director, calls them, happen all the time if we are attentive and listen and watch for the Lord's hand in our lives, just as Padre Pio did. I ask you to come share in this Spirit-filled adventure with our group on the first Saturday of each month. It is an experience you won't soon forget ... it may even change your life!"

- Cindy Russo TOF, Group Leader

I just wanted to thank you all, especially my friend, who offered up a healing prayer on my behalf during your December mass. ... I did have a follow-up appointment on Monday to have it drained for the third time, but it was on Saturday, right around the time of your service, that I noticed something unusually different in the way I had been feeling. ... When I went back to the doctor on Monday, she looked stunned, confused. She said that what happened was a MIRACLE, because she had never witnessed this in all her years as a practicing breast surgeon. I want to give God all the glory, and Saint Padre Pio thanks for his intercession on my behalf. I know this was a true healing."

It all started on Tuesday, the 30th of January with serious bleeding from the brain and a rush to the hospital to save her life. The chances were slim but the best care was given to her along with a huge volume of prayers to keep this mother and wife alive for her family. The turning point came on a Sunday, February 11th  when the Gospel of Mark read that a leper came to Jesus and asked to be made clean.  Jesus took pity and willed the cure. A crucial procedure was performed on her to stop the bleeding that previously did not work. She was holding a rosary that had been touched to a chalice used by the late Padre Pio and was told to ask Jesus for a cure. She was tired, then smiled and said that "I will do it", and then was told that Jesus will hear her prayers, just like the leper. By the next morning, the procedure that previously failed was deemed a success and the Family rejoiced and gave thanks. Her husband said, it truly was a miracle."

Saint Padre Pio's chalice was used at Mass yesterday.  Over 100 people received the Blood of Christ from this chalice and the chalice was never emptied.  I know I witnessed a miracle."

I just wanted to thank you and the Padre Pio Prayer Group from the bottom of my heart, for keeping my pregnant sister in your prayers. At the February Mass, you and Fr. Michael Petkosek prayed over her during Mass along with the entire Prayer Group. She was given very bad news about her pregnancy. She had very serious complications and the doctors did not feel the baby would survive. Thankfully she delivered a healthy baby boy, 9lbs. 3oz, on Divine Mercy Sunday. I must tell you when you introduced Fr. Michael Petkosek from St. Columbkille Parish, I knew it was a sign from God. That is my parish. I just wanted to share the good news. God is good.”

The pilgrimage was amazing. I am sure all of the pilgrims will be filtering through my mind as I go from day to day, for a long time to come. Each of the religious services was profound and I am thankful to have been on the journey."

Our Leadership

Cindy Russo TOF

Group Leader

Picture
Cindy is a member of St. Barnabas Church in Northfield OH.  She is a widow with three married sons and a grandmother of six.  She is a Cleveland native and attended twelve years of Catholic School.  She was married to her High School sweetheart, the love of her life, Joe Russo, for 33 years.  Joe was a Past Faithful Navigator of the Knights of Columbus and spent much of his time helping others and the church.  Cindy lost Joe in a tragic car accident in January 2011, but it was the beginning of a spiritual change for her that she never expected.  Cindy's faith over the last few years was altered due to an experience with "a friar dressed in a brown cloak" at Santi Vincenzo e Anastasio a Trevi in Rome, Italy.  It was the last vacation together with her husband.  The 'incident' happened on September 23, 2010, when a friar answered a prayer request to intercede for the healing of a three year old relative who had terminal cancer.  She had no idea until after the encounter that it was Padro Pio.  The young boy was healed.  It was the beginning of a Spirit-inspired journey that she has been so obviously called to uphold.  Cindy has been the Leader of the Padre Pio Prayer Group of Cleveland since February 2013, and was appointed the U.S. Representative for the Disciples of Padre Pio in Rome, Italy in September 2016.  Cindy owns a chalice used by Padre Pio in the 1960's.  She shares the chalice and witnesses her amazing story of faith around the world.

Fr. Edward J. Janoch

Spiritual Director

Picture
Fr. Ed was born a twin and raised in the Mentor OH area.  He studied Education at Bowling Green State University, and is an alumni of the University of Dayton with a Master of Science degree in Education.  Upon attending St. Mary Seminary in Wickliffe OH, he was ordained a priest for the Diocese of Cleveland in May 2000.  His first assignment as a priest was at St. Clare Church in Lyndhurst OH, followed by assignments at St. Columbkille Church in Parma OH and one year at St. Patrick Church in West Park OH.  In 2010, he was assigned to St. Barnabas Church in Northfield OH, and then assigned to St. Charles Borromeo Church in Parma OH in 2014, St. Mary Church in Chardon OH in 2017, and St. Rita Church in Solon OH in 2018.  It was during his assignment at St. Barnabas Church in 2013 that he met Cindy Russo and became the Spiritual Director for the Padre Pio Prayer Group of Cleveland when Cindy became the Leader of the group and moved it to St. Barnabas Church.  Fr. Ed is also a Fourth Degree member of the Knights of Columbus, and was the State Chaplain for the Ohio State Council of the Knights of Columbus for the 2015-2017 term.  As of June 2022, Fr. Ed is assigned as Parochial Vicar at St. Gabriel Church in Concord Township OH.
